Not long ago, Instagram changed how users could add links to their Stories. Not only did the method change, but so did who could share links, with the feature no longer being limited to accounts with over 10k followers.

How to Add Links to Instagram Stories
To add a link to your Instagram Story, first record or upload your content as you usually would when creating a Story.
Next, select the sticker option, and select ‘link’ from the list that appears.
Paste in your URL, and select ‘customize text’ if you want your sticker to have a CTA instead of the link URL.
Your sticker will appear and you’ll be able to tap it to change its colour or size!
How can I see how many people clicked my Instagram Story link?
Once you have posted your Story, you’ll be able to see how many people have clicked your link. Head to your live or archived Story first.
Next, swipe up to see your analytics. Scroll down to Story interactions and you’ll be able to see the metric for ‘Link clicks’.
Do I have to have a business or creator account to add links to my Instagram Story?
No! Anyone can add a link to their Instagram Stories.
How do I add affiliate links to my Instagram Stories?
Use the exact same method we outlined above, but remember if you are doing any kind of paid partnership or ad, to disclose it somewhere on the post, so your viewers are aware.
Can I customize the link on my Instagram Story?
Yes! You can select the text you want to appear, whether that be a CTA or a word that describes the link. You can also tap the link to change the color of your sticker and drag it to resize it.
💡 REMEMBER: If you want to track sales via a link, you should make sure to create a ‘tracked link’ using a URL builder, so you can later see your results in Google Analytics.
Can I add more than one link to an Instagram Story?
You can only add one link, so pick it carefully!
Other ways you can drive traffic to a link using Instagram
- Pop a link in your bio! If you use a tracked link, you can put it through a link shortener so it fits nice and cleanly in your bio. You should make this link through to your main website if you have one.
- In your posts and captions, drive people to ‘click the link in your bio’ in order to drive traffic.
- On your Stories, you can also include multiple slides with different links. Let’s say you’re showing off your product recommendations. Keep each recommendation to a different slide, and add your link there. But, be careful, don’t add too many links or your viewers may not see them!
- Reply to FAQs with a link. If someone DMs you a question asking for a recommendation, for example, you can reply using a link.
