As Instagram works harder and harder to get people to use Reels on their platform, being able to boost and use Reels as an ad is a huge step for most businesses and creators to get their content in front of more people.
As explained by Instagram:
“Reels is our fastest-growing format and an important part of Instagram, as more people watch Reels to be entertained, go deeper with their interests, or discover new businesses. Today, we’re announcing that businesses can now boost their reels to turn them into ads for the opportunity to reach new audiences and drive more engagement.”
How can you boost an Instagram Reel?
Boosting a Reel is similar to how you boost any of your other posts on Instagram. There will now be a “boost” option on the bottom of the eligible Reel where you can then go through all the prompts to create an ad for the Reel.
Will boosted Reels appear in Instagram Feeds?
Yes! Instagram has confirmed that boosted Reels will appear in your feed, Stories, Reels tab, and even on the Explore page!
What Reels are eligible for boosting?
If you want to boost your Reels, your video has to be less than 60 seconds and have a 9:16 aspect ratio.
Sadly, if you have any copywriter music, GIFs, interactive stickers, or filters, you won’t be able to boost your Reel. Not only that, but if you’ve shared the Reel on Facebook, it’s also not eligible. Weird, we know.
Anything else is fair game.
So go forth and start boosting, our friends.
