TikTok growth is declining 😬

How are you feeling today? Very demure? Very mindful? Very cutesy? 💅 Because I sure am!

The news this week has been MAJOR and I don't know if I have enough time to write a cute little intro here because the news is too juicy! So instead of me rambling up top, let's dive in!

It seems like people have officially found a new home after leaving X in droves, and that is Threads. And thankfully for us all, Threads officially is giving insights to creators and businesses about their accounts!

Huzzah!

Threads has added three new features on desktop that we’re so excited about:

📈 Insights: We finally have audience insights! Learn where your followers are, how well your content has done, how quickly your account is growing, and so much more.

📝 Drafts: You can now save up to 100 drafts in your account. Perfect for those days when you’re not sure if the thing you wrote was that funny.

📆 Scheduling: Yes, seriously. We finally have scheduling and I could cry from happiness!!!!

And it seems that is just the beginning according to Meta.

• Woah, woah, woah! Meta has a new deal with Universal Music Group and Threads and WhatsApp have been included.
  
  

• This took longer than I was expecting—YouTube videos and Shorts will now be on a single feed.
  
  

• Throwing it back—IG is working on a new feed that shows people old content.
  
  

• X has given its insights tab a major upgrade—and you know what? It’s pretty good.
  
  

• Even more ways to annoy your followers! Instagram is adding a “Catch Up” feature inside Reels to watch Stories you might have missed (or ignored, in my case).
  
  

• It’s here! Finally! Insights have officially launched on Threads!
  
  

• YouTube’s latest experiment is pretty controversial—it’s showing the number of comments and likes a video has instead of the amount of views.
  
  

• 24 hour posts? The new Threads option could be coming sooner than we think.
  
  

• Group Chat has finally entered TikTok!
  
  

• While it might have said it’s not focused on longer videos, Instagram now lets creators upload 3+ minute Reels.

Uh, oh. It seems that TikTok is feeling the pressure of not growing as much as it once was.

Recently, TikTok has been offering cash-cash-money to certain creators to invite other creators from other apps over to TikTok.

The new initiative is giving people $300 to promote TikTok to those creators with 10K followers or more from Instagram or YouTube.

And if you ask me, sounds a bit desperate … and I feel like any creator who wanted to be on TikTok would be on there by now? No?

The top trending sounds and songs you need to use to go viral this week. 

🤪 Really Good: This trend uses a comedic audio clip of someone sarcastically expressing overwhelming positivity about a less-than-ideal situation. 

🥧 What Do You Do For Fun Around Here?: This trend relies on a simple, absurd premise: someone asking what people do for fun in a particular setting, and the answer always involves throwing things at a person named Kevin.

😭 When You're Having a Breakdown: Creators portray themselves on the verge of a mental breakdown due to stress, only to immediately switch to a composed and professional demeanor when a new client inquiry or opportunity arises.

💅 Very Demure: Use this audio in a tongue-in-cheek way to showcase something that is very "demure" AKA: classy, modest, etc. You can do this in a fun way and show off something that isn't classically considered demure and label it that way.

For the past couple weeks, Instagram has been testing a big big change on Instagram and it seems like people aren’t happy.

Instead of the square profile grid we all know and love, IG is bringing in vertical rectangles.

And while, yes, people post more content that is vertical than anything else, it is annoying for those who spend a lot of time making sure their accounts are curated appropriately. And the Head of Instagram is definitely aware of that.

“I know this can be annoying for some of you who really spent a lot of time curating and making sure everything lines up … The vast majority of what is uploaded to Instagram today is vertical … and cropping it down to square is pretty brutal,” Adam Mosseri said on his Story the other day.

It seems this change will be us officially saying goodbye to the Instagram we once knew. RIP.
