Instagram is at it againādropping features that no one wants and gaslighting us into thinking we wanted them. š„² Ā And I'm here, again, to break down all the latest and greatest social media news from the week in one lovely newsletter to help you stay up-to-date (and try not to get too frustrated and cry!).Ā Ā Grab a snack. Grab a drink. Here's everything you need to know about social media this week: |
Here we go again! Instagram has dropped new features, and guess what? Absolutely no one asked for any of them. Ā
š¶ 20 songs: You can now add up to 20 audio tracks to a single Reel. Because ā¦ that seems necessary. Ā
š Notes expansion: IG is going all in on Notes and is now adding it to Reels and Feed posts. Followers will now be able to add a note to a Reel and a postāso exactly like commenting ā¦ but Noting. Ā
ā¤ļø Super likes: Do you not only like a Story but you love it? Now you can send a Super Like to an IG Storyāand best part? You can only send one every 24-hours. Because thatās a thing we need. Ā Are you excited about any of these features? Or are you like me and wish IG would spend more time making the current features better before adding more and more and more. š¬ |

Well, TikTok seems to be taking punches left and right. Ā
While we wait on hearing whether or not itāll be banned from the USA, TikTok lost a recent battle with the European Union in regards to the new Digital Markets Act (DMA). Ā The DMA states that big tech canāt try to stop other companies from competing in the overall market, and makes it āillegal for certain platforms to favor their own services over those of rivals.ā So, if TikTok stopped people from linking to a different storefront, that is a big olā no-no according to the EU. Ā
And now, the EU put its foot down and said that TikTok canāt escape the DMA as it is as powerful as Google and Apple. Yikes. Ā TikTok has now started putting actions in place to comply with the new rules and hopefully we wonāt see any sneaky little loopholes from the platform to try and get around the law. š® |
