Another week passes and another week of social media updates are here for you! 

While it was a fairly quiet week in terms of new features and apps being dropped, it was a big week for Mark Zuckerberg and memes on the internet. The Zuck went on Dwarketsh Patel's podcast and spoke all about AI — while also wearing Meta Smart Glasses and trying to seem more human. 

But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's just dive in!

According to Hubspot’s 2025 Social Media report, authenticity is still winning on social media. 

Think: FaceTiming with your bestie type content. Think showing off the hardships (and the wins!) in your business. 

Funny, relatable, and behind-the-scenes content continue to get way more engagement across the board than slick and professional content any day of the week. 

So when creating your content for 2025, try not to overthink every single thing. Be true to yourself and your brand!

A new standalone AI chatbot app has officially been launched by Meta. I say “new,” but it’s basically Meta taking its AI out of its app and making it into … a brand new app. 

COOL!

To try and compete in the market (and, you know, be a monopoly), Meta created the app to be used on the go and to be a type of “companion” for people. You’ll be able to have a back-and-forth with your AI chatbot, and Meta explains, “It’s more social, so it can show you things from the people and places you care about.”

While I’m a bit skeptical of this (I mean, did anyone see the movie HER?), I’ll be curious how people use this over time or convert from ChatGPT to use Meta AI. 

Things Meta AI can do for you:

• Memory: You can ask Meta AI to remember details you’ve shared in one-on-one chats on WhatsApp and Messenger.
  
  
• Socials: You can link your Instagram and Facebook accounts so the responses you receive are more personalized based on you.
  
  
• Voice: You can speak to Meta AI, and the assistant will chat with you in a “natural” way (we’ll see about that). You can also choose to have the assistant speak to you with a celebrity’s voice, like Dame Judi Dench, Kristen Bell, and more.
  
  
• Editing: Meta AI can edit your photos directly inside the chat.
  
  
• Analysis: When you share photos, the AI can quickly identify items, suggest related content, or provide you with detailed info on the photo.
  
  
• Discover Feed: You can explore a feed showcasing AI interactions shared by friends on Instagram and Facebook, where you can engage with what has been shared.

While this is just the start, it’s a pretty strong start from Meta. It’ll be very interesting/terrifying to see where the AI goes next.

Well, President Trump has announced that he might be extending the TikTok sell-off deadline once again. 

While TikTok is technically banned, and has been banned since January 19th, negotiations are still underway (kinda) between China and the USA to get a deal sorted for the app. 

It seems like Trump can't extend the ban forever, but until he is told to stop, it looks like this extension might keep happening every 75 days until something gives.
