Oh, god. We’ve all been there. You posted an incredible piece of content on Instagram only to realize you’ve made a mistake in the caption, location, or tag on the photo.
Uh oh.
First, take a deep breath because it’s a super easy thing to fix (yay!). Whether you’re needing to edit your caption, location, or tag, it can be done with a few simple taps and no one will even notice that you made a little mistake.
How to edit an Instagram post on Android and iPhone
You can add a caption to a photo or video you’ve already shared, or edit or delete the caption you originally included. To add, edit or delete a caption:
- Tap the three dots above your photo or video.
- Tap Edit.
- Edit, delete, or add a caption to your post.
- Tap Done on iPhone or the checkmark on Android.
When you tap the speech bubble below a post, the word Edited may appear below captions that have been edited.
Does editing a post on Instagram affect reach?
If you’re nervous about editing a photo thinking it might affect your reach, have no fear. Unless you go in and actively delete the post and then repost it, that will affect your reach by taking away all the views and likes you had. However, if you go and edit the caption, add tags, or a location to your post, it’s not going to affect the reach of your post.
If you’re worried about making mistakes in your captions, why not schedule your content instead? Flick just released our very own scheduler so you can pre-schedule all of your content and make sure you have no mistakes before the post-auto-publishes online.
