Reels – short-form, full-screen vertical videos that can be up to 90 seconds long
Carousel posts – a post containing one or more photos that users can view by swiping left. Carousel posts include a maximum of 10 photos/ videos
Stories – a feature where users can share photos and videos which disappear after 24 hours
Story highlights – these are stories (as above) that have been saved to a user's profile and can be accessed beyond 24 hours from posting
Shopping – a feature allowing people to shop for products directly from a post/ photo/ video
Feed – the main Instagram feed features posts from users that you follow
Explore page – a landing page featuring a collection of content based on a user’s interests curated by the Instagram algorithm
DMs – direct messages between two or more Instagram users
Insights – free analytics within the Instagram app (for business accounts) where a business or user can learn more about their followers and performance.
Guides – a curated collection of Instagram posts that allow you to recommend places and products
Instagram Notes – these are ‘status updates’ where you can share up to 60 characters which will disappear after 24 hours
To create a business account on Instagram, follow these steps:
Download the Instagram app on your phone and launch it.
Tap on the "Sign Up" button.
Enter your email address and create a password.
Tap "Next."
Fill out your profile information, including your name and a profile picture.
Tap "Done."
After you've completed the sign-up process, you can then convert your personal Instagram account to a business account. Here's how:
Go to your profile by tapping on the icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Tap on the three horizontal lines in the top right corner and select "Settings."
Tap on "Account."
Tap on "Switch to Professional Account."
Select "Business" as the type of account you want to create.
Connect your Instagram account to a Facebook business page that you manage.
Fill out the business information, including your business's category and contact information.
Tap "Done."
Once you've set up your business account, you can start posting content, using Instagram's advertising tools, and analyzing your performance using Instagram Insights.
