The purpose of a meta description is to give the user an idea of what content will be on your web page and explain briefly how it relates to what they searched for.
Ensure that the text is concise and relevant – search engines display 155-160 characters of Meta Descriptions so ensure your description is within this limit.
Use keywords related to the content/product available on the webpage.
Do not use the same meta description for more than one webpage. Each one should be totally unique and describe the page it is linked to.
Meta descriptions are important as they inform users what a webpage is about and help them to decide whether to click through to the page – this can increase organic web traffic. If you do not include a meta description for your website and pages, most search engines will pull a snippet of text from the first paragraph of your page.
